Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter is a human rights campaign founded by Alicia Garza after the murder of Trayvon Martin in 2012. The campaign’s slogan, “Black Lives Matter”, has become a rallying cry for protests against police brutality. The movement began with three words that resonated with so many: “black lives matter”. It was born as a call to action and a response to the anti-black racism that permeates our society—a response to the systemic killing of black people, including the murder of unarmed African Americans.
